Nagpur-raised Dr Sharad Jaitly invents device that detects vulnerability of sudden cardiac arrest
By Vikas Vaidya :
Nagpur-raised eminent nuclear non-interventional cardiologist based in New York, Dr Sharad C Jaitly, has developed a device that detects the vulnerability of sudden cardiac deaths (SCDs) in high risk individuals.
Explaining the concept, Dr Sharad Jaitly told ‘The Hitavada’ on phone from New York, “The device named smaRt heaRt has a built-in technology, US patented, that measures heart rate variability (HRV) in milliseconds, an electrocardiographic component, a parameter on an
EKG, analyses it instantly to categorise the high, moderate and the low-risk individuals based on their HRV, that has a capability to store and send this vital data to the treating physician promptly in real time to enable an immediate advice and possible treatment or to help develop further diagnostic strategies, to help identify or possibly
even rule out certain life-threatening cardiac conditions in those vulnerable individuals and thereby, possibly help save precious lives - a much long-felt need in the realm of cardiology field where it adds another vital piece to the enigmatic puzzle of SCDs!”
Dr Jaitly said,
“The unique ability to have the HRV collected on a device programmed on a medical
algorithm protocol with an ability to interface with the physician’s knowledge of CV risk factors (the Human Intelligence based on knowledge and experiences). Then allowing the interface with the Artificial Intelligence (AI), derived cumulatively by reiterations from previously known medical literature clinical data and almost instantly making a CV risk stratification available to the treating physician through this US patented smart heaRt device technology.”
It is a novel innovation in the specialty by itself offered by Dr Jaitly in service to the humanity. One device per family has capability of recording and storing separate data for multiple family heads or individuals each confidentially in separate files and have the ability to transmit it directly to their private doctors.
The sudden cardiac death episodes (SCDs) are a nightmare even today for a cardiologist practicing in any part of the world, pointed out Dr Jaitly. These can be prevented through the device.
By acquiring a US patent on his smart heaRt device technology Dr Jaitly holds the honour of being the first to invent such a device. He is the alumnus of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at Nagpur.
Dr Jaitly predicts his device to be in the market by later this year in Europe and India as well, once mass production can be achieved specifically, making it affordable to the common man at minimal nominal costs. Dr Jaitly pledges to endow every single penny earned from this endeavour into the MuniFoundation Inc. that in turn shall become self-sufficient to support.
