To promote use of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and simplify connection process, the State Government has introduced several new facilities for consumers. Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput stated that all City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities have been instructed to set up dedicated control rooms for registering and resolving connection requests and complaints. A ‘Single Window Portal’ has been launched to provide various permissions to CGD entities, ensuring a faster rollout of services. Domestic and commercial consumers living near existing pipelines in urban areas can now easily apply for PNG connections. In a parallel move to curb black-marketing of petroleum products, the department has intensified state-wide crackdown. Minister Govind Singh Rajput informed that under the Essential Commodities Act, inspections were conducted at 2050 locations, leading to seizure of 2912 LPG cylinders.

FIRs have been registered in 9 cases related to LPG black-marketing. Out of 325 petrol pumps inspected across the State, an FIR was lodged in one case for non-compliance. District supply officials have been ordered to maintain constant vigil and conduct regular checks at all retail outlets. The Minister reassured public that there is an ample stock of petrol, diesel and LPG in the State. To meet any surge in demand, bottling plants are currently operating for Extended Hours. Consumers are urged not to fall for rumours or engage in unnecessary hoarding, as oil companies have confirmed a steady supply from depots to petrol pumps. The Government’s priority remains seamless distribution of fuel while encouraging citizens to transition to PNG connections for their domestic and commercial needs.
