Youth key to nation

NEW DELHI :

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday underscored the importance of harnessing the energy of the country’s youth for nation-building, stating that initiatives like Mera Yuva Bharat play a crucial role in channelising their potential. Speaking during the 132nd episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister said, “India is the world’s youngest country. When the power of the nation’s youth is harnessed for nation-building, it provides immense support. In fulfilling this responsibility of nation-building, Mera Yuva Bharat, that is, My Bharat Sanghathan, plays an important role.” “This organisation is connecting the youth of the country with several positive developments,” he said. He also praised innovative approaches to education, highlighting the work of the Prayog Institute of Education Research and the traditional learning practices of the Naga community. “There is an old saying, ‘Karat Karat Abhyas Ke, Jadmat Hot Sujan’, which means that the more we practice continuously, the more intellect we keep acquiring. People also learn best when there is active participation on their part,” he said. PM Modi invited citizens to join the ‘Gyan Bharatam App’, which gathers information about manuscripts across the country, and urged them to highlight aspects of different cultures and share them.

The Gyan Bharatam App is a digital platform developed by the Ministry of Culture to identify, document, and preserve India’s extensive manuscript heritage. This app serves as the mobile interface for the Gyan Bharatam Mission, a national initiative focused on creating a comprehensive digital map of manuscript repositories across the country. In the address he also called the fishermen a “strong foundation of an Atmanirbhar Bharat”, who continue to strengthen the country’s economy and mentioned how efforts are being made to further enhance the fisheries sector. He said, “Our fishermen brothers and sisters are not just warriors of the sea; they are also a strong foundation of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Battling the waves of the sea even before dawn, they set out to strengthen their families and the country’s economy.” Jammu & Kashmir had scripted history last month by winning the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final on the basis of a massive first-innings lead against eight-time champions Karnataka, marking their first title after 67 years of participation in India’s premier domestic tournament. The Prime Minister said, “This month has been full of excitement and enthusiasm for cricket fans across the country. When India achieved a historic victory in the T20 World Cup, a wave of joy swept across the country.

We are all very proud of our team’s thumping success. Later, he emphasised the growing adoption of solar energy across the country, stating that the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is transforming lives and accelerating India’s clean energy transition. “If you visit any city, big or small, today, you will surely notice a change. You will see solar panels installed on the rooftops of a large number of homes. Until a few years ago, this was only seen on a few homes. But today, the impact of the ‘PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana’ is being observed in every corner of the country,” he said. In another instance, he said, “When society itself steps forward, even small efforts become the foundation of big change. Many such examples are emerging in different parts of our country, which teach us that.” Highlighting one such initiative, he pointed to a large-scale plantation drive in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, where more than 2.51 lakh saplings were planted within a single hour, creating a new record recognised by Guinness World Records. Modi said many people have commented on Instagram content creator Yuvraj Dua’s post, in which he had requested the Prime Minister to ask his father to reduce his sugar intake.

“I am happy that my request had a positive impact on his father. I would urge all of you to reduce your sugar intake, and as I have said earlier, we also need to cut down on cooking oil by 10 per cent. These small efforts will keep you away from obesity and lifestyle diseases,” Modi said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted different water conservation efforts being undertaken by the people across the nation as the summer season approaches. “Under the ‘Jal Sanchay Abhiyan’, nearly 50 lakh Artificial Water Harvesting Structures have been created across the country. I am happy to see that community-level efforts are now underway in every village to address the water crisis,” he said. He appealed to all citizens to come together to face the challenges emerging due to the ongoing “fierce war” in West Asia and said everyone should stay vigilant and not fall prey to rumours.
