Mayor Meenal Choubey on Monday presented the estimated Budget of Rs 1,924 crore, 9 lakh, and 12 thousand for the financial year 2026–27 at the headquarters of the Raipur Municipal Corporation, outlining a one-year roadmap focused on development, governance reforms, and citizen welfare. Addressing the General Assembly after presenting the budget, the Mayor stated that the document is not merely a financial statement but a reflection of the aspirations of the people of Raipur. She said the current administration has worked continuously over the past year to fulfill its commitments and lay the foundation for long-term growth.

In a sharp critique of the previous council, the Mayor described its tenure as a ‘dark chapter,’ alleging that despite receiving substantial funding under major schemes such as the Smart Cities Mission, AMRUT Mission, and the 24x7 Water Supply Scheme, there was a lack of intent and execution to address the city’s core issues. She pointed to persistent challenges such as waterlogging, drinking water shortages, illegal encroachments, and deteriorating civic infrastructure, including roads, parks, and ponds. The Mayor also highlighted concerns over alleged mismanagement of funds in projects like the Budhatalab complex and the poor maintenance of key urban stretches
