Priyanshi Prajapat, the pride of Madhya Pradesh who brought laurels to the nation at the World Wrestling Championship Ranking Series in Tirana, Albania, has safely returned to India. Amid escalating military tensions in the Middle East, Prajapat and her fellow athletes were stranded in the region, necessitating high-level intervention by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to ensure their secure repatriation.
Extending his congratulations to the athlete for clinching the Silver medal, Chief Minister Yadav reaffirmed the State’s commitment to its citizens. “The Madhya Pradesh Government, in co-ordination with the Government of India, is dedicated to the safety of every citizen. Whether for studies, employment, or tourism, any resident facing difficulties abroad can contact us directly. Serving our people is our primary resolution,” the Chief Minister stated.
Priyanshi Prajapat displayed exceptional prowess during the world-class competition held from February 24 to 28. She secured her place in the finals and ultimately the Silver medal by defeating formidable
opponents from Kazakhstan, the United States, and the host nation, Albania. Notably, Prajapat has previously brought international acclaim to India by winning a Gold medal in the Asian Series.
On Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a video call with Priyanshi’s father, Mukesh Prajapat, to enquire about her well-being.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister comforted the Ujjain-based family and lauded Priyanshi’s outstanding athletic performance. Mukesh Prajapat expressed deep gratitude for the Chief Minister’s personal support and swift administrative action during the crisis.
It is worth noting that during his tenure as the President of the Madhya Pradesh Wrestling Association, Mohan Yadav had previously sanctioned a financial grant of Rs 2 lakh to support Priyanshi’s training.
