IN A FIRST since its formation, the, Raipur Police Commissionerate system, has rolled out drone surveillance as part of its Holi security grid, signalling a technology backed approach to festival policing. In this regard, Deputy Commissioners of Police briefed nearly 3000 police officers and personnel at the Police Lines Reserve Centre, Raipur, outlining operational deployment, zonal responsibilities and rapid response protocols for the festival period. During the briefing, officers were directed to maintain strict law and order, intensify vigil at sensitive and highly sensitive locations and ensure close monitoring of anti social elements. Clear instructions were issued for immediate and decisive action in case of any attempt to disturb peace, indulge in hooliganism or spread communal tension. Subsequently, Deputy Commissioners of Police of Central, West and North zones led coordinated flag marches in their respective jurisdictions along with station house officers and adequate police force.

The march covered major markets, mixed population localities, crowded intersections and other identified vulnerable pockets to reinforce public confidence and deter mischief mongers. The Commissionerate has activated a multi layer security mechanism comprising 105 bike patrolling teams, 73 police station patrol vehicles, 15 anti disturbance parties and 40 fixed checking points across the city. In coordination with traffic police, motor checking points and breath analyser checkpoints have been established to curb drunken driving and other violations. Strict legal action will be taken against triple riding, driving under the influence of alcohol, overspeeding, stunt riding and other traffic violations. Drone surveillance will be deployed in key and sensitive areas to enable real time aerial monitoring and swift operational response during Holi celebrations. Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner Dr Sanjeev Shukla has also appealed to citizens to celebrate Holi peacefully and report any suspicious activity to the police control room or nearest police station without delay
