In an inspiring achievement for Chhattisgarh, young police officer Diamond Singh Dhruv, currently serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the State Police, has successfully cleared the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination, securing All-India Rank 623. Dhruv had earlier cracked the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) examination with an impressive 13th rank, following which he was appointed as a DSP in the State Police service. His latest success in the UPSC examination has further elevated his profile as one of the promising young officers from the state. Originally hailing from Paswani village in the Magarlod area of Dhamtari district, Dhruv comes from a modest family background. He is the son of late Balram Singh, who served as a taxation officer in the Magarlod Janpad. His father passed away in April 2025. His mother works as a teacher in a government school.
Known for his academic brilliance since childhood, Dhruv completed his early schooling at Shishu Mandir, Magarlod, and later pursued his high school education at Radiant Public School in Mana, Raipur. During his student years, he developed a clear aspiration to join the civil services and began working steadily towards that goal. At just 25 years of age, Dhruv had already achieved distinction by clearing the CGPSC examination in his very first attempt, securing the 13th rank overall and placing third in the DSP category. The achievement brought recognition to both his family and his native region. Despite joining the State Police as a DSP, he continued preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. He spent nearly two and a half years in Delhi preparing for the exam, relying largely on disciplined self-study rather than formal coaching. His success in the UPSC examination has generated widespread enthusiasm in his hometown and among the people of Chhattisgarh. Residents and well-wishers describe him as a hardworking and focused individual whose perseverance and dedication have made him a source of inspiration for aspiring civil service candidates across the state.
