Nine killed in separate tragedies, Five killed, 20 grievously injured as bus overturns

Five persons were killed on the spot and over twenty people sustained grievous injuries when a passenger bus lost control and overturned near Godaamba village in Duldula block while traveling from Kardega (Kurdeg) to Kunkuri.
The deceased were identified as Mahesh Ram (45), Bimla (42), Sampati Devi (52), Diggeshwar (40), and five-month-old Ghanshyam. Three victims—husband, wife, and child—hailed from Kurdeg, according to Kunkuri BMO Dr. Kiran Ekka.
As per information from the Chief Medical and Health Officer, five people died in the accident while more than 20 sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to Community Health Centre (CHC) Kunkuri and Holy Cross
Hospital, Kunkuri for treatment. Three critically injured patients were later referred to Ambikapur Medical College. District Collector Rohit Vyas and SSP Dr. Lal Umed Singh reached the accident site to supervise rescue operations and ensure medical assistance for the injured.
Preliminary reports suggest that the bus may have suffered
a brake failure, causing the driver to lose control. The speeding bus reportedly crashed into the wall of a construction site of a Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana belonging to the late Surendra Singh, before overturning. The impact triggered panic among passengers, with screams heard from inside the bus.
Immediately after the accident, local villagers and passersby rushed to help, rescuing trapped passengers and informing the police and administration. Acting on directions from the Chief Minister’s Camp Office in Bagia, ambulance services were quickly dispatched to the spot. Three ambulances transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Additional SP Rakesh Patanwar said that several passengers were seriously injured and police teams had reached the site for rescue operations. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation. CMHO Dr. G.S. Jatra also reached the spot and stated that special attention is being given to the treatment of the injured.
Kunkuri BMO Dr. Kiran Ekka confirmed that five people have died in the accident. Three members of a family from Kurdeg a husband, wife and their child were among the victims. Following the accident, Chief Minister’s wife Kaushalya Sai visited Holy Cross Hospital and CHC Kunkuri to meet the injured passengers. She inquired about their health condition and directed doctors to ensure proper treatment and all necessary medical arrangements. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed grief over the bus accident that occurred near village Godamba in Duldula development block of Jashpur district. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences on the untimely death of people in the tragic incident, stating that the news is extremely saddening and heart-wrenching. CM Sai prayed for peace
for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear this difficult time. He also wished for the speedy recovery of all those injured in the accident. The CM has directed district administration to ensure that there is no shortage in the treatment of the injured and that they receive all medical facilities and assistance. He also instructed officials to continuously monitor relief and rescue operations and ensure all possible support to the affected families.
