PHOENIX boys and Dharampeth Krida Mandal girls started their campaigns on a winning note on the opening day of Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA) organised Inter-Club Junior (U-18) Championship. The tournament is being played at RTMNU’s basketball courts in Ravi Nagar. A total of 18 teams including 12 boys and six girls are participating in the selection meet. In the boys category, Phoenix rode on Jayesh Tambe’s excellent performance as they went on to beat NSCA 52-19. In the girls category, DKM had no difficulty in defeating PBG 59-7. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Vice-President of NDBA Hemant Balbudhe.
 
On the occasion, NDBA Secretary Bhavesh Kuchanwar, NDBA Joint Secretaries Mahesh Gaharwar and Sachin Dhage, Dhiraj Kadao, Kislay Rai, Pramod Palkar and others were present. RESULTS: BOYS: Phoenix (J ayesh Tambe 25, Ayush Chandel 8) bt NSCA (Laksh Darane 9) 52-19 (19-4, 13-5, 12-6, 8-4). DKM (Atharva Dhore 23, Yash Waghade18) bt UBA (Sahil Dhage 16) 61-36 (11-11, 21-5, 15-9, 14- 11). GIRLS: DKM (Netra Damke 22, Pankhudi Bade 8) bt PBG (Shravani Selokar 4) 59- 7 (24-1, 15-3, 12-3, 8-0). NBYS (Sahi Khopde 10, Trisha Karki 10, Himangi Pund 9) bt HKM ( Yadavi Shirpurkar 13, Indrayani Muley 7) 43- 27 (12-6, 8-7, 10-9, 13- 5); partan (Unnati Kadwekar 11, Neharika Deoghare 9) bt SKS (Sejal Mishra 6, Mitali Kohale 5) 27-22 (11-3, 5-7, 8-2, 3-10).
