A CALIBRATED enforcement
push under ‘Operation Nishchay’
by Mahasamund police led to a
high-impact crackdown on narcotics trafficking, resulting in the
seizure of contraband and assets
worth Rs 4,61,67,506 within a
span of 10 hours across four
police station jurisdictions,
exposing a well-coordinated
inter-state supply network.
The action, executed simultaneously in Basna, Komakhan,
Singhoda and Mahasamund
police station areas with support
from Anti-Narcotics Task Force
(ANTF), resulted in seizure of
685.890 kg ganja valued at Rs
3,42,50,000 along with 700 narcotic tablets. A total of 13 accused
were arrested, including six from
Chhattisgarh and seven from
other states. Vehicles used in trafficking, including a pick-up,
truck, two cars and a motorcycle, collectively valued at Rs 41.40
lakh, were also seized.
Basna police recorded the
largest recovery, intercepting a
packers-and-movers vehicle carrying 454.890 kg ganja concealed
under household goods. In
Komakhan, two separate operations led to seizure of 25 kg ganja from a truck bound for Madhya
Pradesh and 200 kg hidden inside
a car transporting contraband
from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh.
Singhoda police recovered 6 kg
ganja from a motorcycle,
while Mahasamund police, assisted by Railway Protection
Force, seized 700 narcotic capsules near a railway station.
Investigators said traffickers adopted multiple concealment strategies, including use of commercial logistics covers, dry fruit consignments, private vehicles and rail routes,
indicating a diversified supply chain. In certain cases, endto-end action led to swift identification and arrest of both
suppliers and receivers, while logistics coordinators were
also apprehended. Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ over phone,
Mahasamund Superintendent of Police (SP) Prabhat Kumar
said that sustained coordination with Bilaspur police and
Raipur Commissionerate Crime Branch played a crucial
role in tracking the network, with the scale and speed of
the operation reflecting a focused offensive against organised inter-state trafficking. “Over the past three months,
Mahasamund police have seized 4,054.350 kg ganja in 63
cases, with 165 arrests, including 48 from Chhattisgarh and
117 from other states. The crackdown is being intensified
to dismantle the entire supply chain and identify remaining operatives,” he added.
