SHRADDHA Bajaj put up a remarkable show on 64 squares to win Nagpur District Open Amateur Chess Selection Tournament organised by the Chess Association Nagpur in association with GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation, MKH Sancheti Group and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at MKH Sancheti Public School, Hindustan Colony, Opposite Sai Mandir. Cash Prizes for the event were sponsored by GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation. Shraddha, with 7½ points from eightrounds, emerged a clear winner. Mayank Santosh Hedau stood second with 7 points. Rushikesh Lohit, Swaraj Mishra, Yuval Sunil Mohurle and Shaura Ambone scored 6.5points eachbut were adjudged third to sixthin that order in the finalranking based on their tie-break scores.
 
Adv Ashish Agrawal, Six Star Marathon Finisher, having completed all six major marathons at Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York, was chief guestof theprizedistribution function. Nivedita Ashish Agrawal, Sheetal Kathale, Vice-Principal, MKH Sancheti College and SS Soman, Member, MCA Observer Committeewereseated on dais. FA ShyamAgrawalconducted theprogramme and proposed a vote of thanks. Shraddha, Mayank, Rushikesh and Swaraj shallrepresent Nagpur district in the Maharashtra State Amateur Chess Championship 2026 to be held later this year. Apart from cash prizes forTop 10 winners, medals were distributed to Best in Under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15 players and veterans. IAShiva Iyerwas thechief arbiter for the event and was assisted by SNAPrayas Ambade, SNAShrikant Bagde and SNA Shyam Agrawal.
