A couple lost their life in a tragic road accident late Wednesday night under the jurisdiction of Beltarodi Police Station. The incident took place in the Purti Bazaar area when a speeding Kia Sonet hit the couple’s two-wheeler. As per the information, the car was travelling at high speed when it hit the two-wheeler leaving both husband and wife critically injured. They were rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital (GMC&H) for treatment, but despite efforts by the doctors, both succumbed to their injuries.

 

The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning. According to Beltarodi Police, Vijay Bhagwan Sawarkar (53) and his wife Surekha Vijay Sawarkar (48) both residents of Plot No 216, Gharkul Society, Harihar Nagar, Beltarodi, were returning home from a programme on a Passion Pro motorcycle (MH-40-X-4506) when the Kia Sonet (MH-49-BW-4226) rammed the couple at high speed. Preliminary information indicates that the car driver Pankaj Balkrishn Dekate (47), a resident of Plot No 317, Chimurkar Layout, New Narsala, Hudkeshwar, reportedly a bank manager, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
