HC takes strict action on Nursing Scam

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has taken a tough stance regarding the highly publicized nursing scam in the state. The results of approximately 30,000 first-year GNM students for the 2022-23 academic session will not be released for the time being. During the hearing, a division bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf stayed the MP Nursing Council’s application seeking permission to release the results. The court clearly stated that the council must first submit complete information and records before any decision can be considered.

The division bench of MPHC has heard the petition filed by Vishal Bagel, President, Law Students Association. During the hearing, the petitioner informed the court that many nursing colleges in the state are operating without the necessary resources such as buildings, labs, libraries, and faculty. Despite being found ineligible after an investigation, students from these colleges have not been transferred to eligible institutions. Expressing strong displeasure, the court asked which colleges the students whose results are being released attended and whether the necessary facilities were available there. The HC directed that students from ineligible colleges be transferred to recognised institutions first. The council was also asked to submit a record of the entire case. Next hearing in the case is scheduled for April 24.
