Nanded men’s volleyball team staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Nandurbar on opening day of 56th Maharashtra State Senior Volleyball Championship that got underway at Anand Nagar Sports Association Ground on Thursday.
Nandurbar took the first set
25-20. However, Nanded bounced back strongly to win the next two sets 25-13 and
15-6. In other matches, Buldhana defeated Amravati 25-22, 25-19 while Parbhani beat Jalgaon
25-19, 25-22.
Earlier, Mayor Neeta Thakre inaugurated the championship by lighting the traditional lamp.
The programme was smoothly anchored by PS Pant.
Dr Abhijeet Wanjari (MLC), Vijay Dangre (President, Maharashtra Volleyball Association), Divya Dhurde (Corporator), Nilesh Jagtap (Secretary, MVA), Sunil Hande (Treasurer, MVA), and Anjali Patil (Chairperson, Maharashtra Referee Board), along with zonal secretaries Gilas Ghogare, Ameya Dangre and Satish Pathak were present on the occasion.
Dignitaries highlighted that such tournaments provide an excellent platform for athletes from both rural and urban areas.
