The Health Department continued its intensive survey in Ward-67, Sector-7 West (Street 37A) of Bhilai on Friday following reports of jaundice cases in the area. The inspection was
carried out under the direction of Dr Manoj Dani, Chief Medical and Health Officer,
Durg, and guidance of Dr C B S Banjare, District Surveillance Officer, Durg.
The team included Dr Piyam Singh, In-charge Officer, Civil Hospital Supela, Ritika Sonwani, District Epidemiologist, Vijay Sejule, Supervisor, Hitendra Kosre, BETO, along with local health workers and Mitanins.
During the survey, 110
houses were visited and 11 new jaundice cases were identified. Blood samples of seven symptomatic persons were sent to Hamar Lab at the District Hospital for testing.
With this, the total number of cases in the affected area has reached 15. Two new patients have been admitted, while two earlier patients have been discharged. Currently, four patients are undergoing treatment at Shankaracharya Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhilai. Water samples from three houses have been sent to Chandulal Chandrakar Medical College, Kachandur for testing. Bhilai Steel Plant has arranged water tankers in the area, and pipeline repair work is underway. Officials stated that the situation is currently under control and urged citizens to follow hygiene and consume safe drinking water.
