BHILAI :
Tension prevailed outside the Bhilai Municipal Corporation (BMC) office as members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal staged a protest over the alleged removal of a Hanuman temple structure in Nehru Nagar. The situation turned tense with sloganeering, attempts to breach barricades, and brief scuffles between protestors, police personnel, and BSP staff.
Heavy security arrangements were put in place, with multiple police teams deployed to prevent any untoward incident. Protestors gathered in large numbers,
raising slogans against the civic administration and demanding action against officials responsible for the alleged demolition. Ramlochan, a local representative associated with the protest, said the organisation had placed key demands, including suspension of officials and registration of an FIR. He warned that if action is not taken, the agitation would be intensified across State. Lakshmipati Raju,
I/c Health Department of BMC and local ward Corporator, was also present at the site and coordinated with officials as
tensions escalated. Protestors also raised concerns over other local issues, including alleged illegal constructions and selective action by authorities. Several young participants were seen in the protest, some of whom appeared unaware of the issue, raising concerns about the involvement of minors in such agitations. The protest comes in the backdrop of the Hanuman Jayanti incident, which has triggered strong reactions among local groups. Officials said the situation is under control, and further action will depend on administrative review and investigation.
