Staff Reporter :
A major job racket targeting unemployed youth has surfaced in the city’s commercial hub, MP Nagar. A self-proclaimed security firm allegedly defrauded dozens of educated individuals by promising them high-profile Human Resource (HR) positions, only to vanish after collecting significant sums of money under the guise of training and security deposits. The firm reportedly lured candidates through advertisements for HR executive roles. According to the victims, the company initially charged a Rs 500 application fee. Later, citing training requirements and mandatory security deposits, the management extracted an additional Rs 3,500 from each of the 26 selected candidates.
The fraud came to light when the appointed candidates received their joining letters.
Instead of HR management tasks, they were allegedly forced into aggressive tele-marketing and cold-calling roles. The youths soon realised that the job profile was entirely different from what was promised and that they were being exploited for unauthorised commercial activities.
Threats and Midnight Escape: When a few victims, suspicious of the company’s operations, demanded a refund of their security deposits, the directors reportedly misbehaved and threatened them. Fearing legal action, the victims approached the local police. However, by the time a police team arrived at the MP Nagar office to conduct an inspection, the operators had locked the premises and fled overnight. MP Nagar police have registered an FIR against nine individuals, including the primary suspects identified as Alok and Ritu.
