Staff Reporter :
In a major sweep against non-compliance, the Health Department has cancelled the registrations of 121 private clinics and 5 private hospitals in the Jabalpur district. Effective from April 1, 2026, these establishments are now considered illegal and all medical treatments at these facilities have been ordered to cease immediately.
The crackdown followed the expiration of the deadline for mandatory registration renewal.
According to the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Dr. Navin Kothari, healthcare institutions were required to apply for renewal between January 1 and February 28. Despite being given ample time, these 126 institutions failed to comply with the directives. The investigation revealed more than just paperwork delays. Several institutions were found to be in violation of basic operational standards. Like, S.C. Gupta Memorial Hospital was discovered operating with insufficient staff during inspections, the documents of Sankalp Hospital were not verified by the Municipal Corporation.
Similarly, Namdev Nursing Home failed to apply for the mandatory renewal, Batallia Eye Hospital & Sarkar Hospital have voluntarily applied to shut down their operations.
Meanwhile, out of 240 clinics, 89 failed to apply for renewal entirely, while 32 submitted incomplete documentation. This list includes Allopathic, Ayurvedic and Homeopathic clinics, as well as several pathology labs and diagnostic centers. To ensure public safety and the enforcement of the Madhya Pradesh Nursing Home Act, the CMHO has issued the following immediate orders to stop new admissions, discharge of the current patients and immediate removal of all the name-boards and hospital signage displayed
outside the buildings. CMHO Dr Navin Kothari stated that any hospital found operating without a valid registration will face strict legal action under the MP Nursing Home Act.
