DEFENDING champions Ministerial Services Sports Club (MSSC) retained the Dorairajan Trophy in style, defeating Navniketan Cricket Club by an innings and 58 runs in the final which concluded at the VCA Civil Lines Stadium on Saturday. Needing 146 runs to avoid an innings defeat, Navniketan CC resumed their second innings on 86-3 but were bowled out for 174 in 49.5 overs.

 

Avinash Jadhav (5-44) and Rahul Dongarwar (2-50) did most of the damage with the ball. Varun Paladurkar top-scored with 60 while Mohd Faiz and Aditya Ahuja chipped in with 44 and 47 runs respectively. Brief scores MSSC 1st innings 381 all out 87.4 overs (Vedant Jajoo 47, Yash Rathod 89, Shivam Deshmukh 46, Nachiket Bhute 46, Sooraj Rai 65, Rahul Dongarwar 58; Shantanu Chikhale 5-105, Pratham Maheshwari 3-49). Navniketan CC 1st innings 149 all out in 56.4 overs (Pratham Maheshwari 42; Sahil Sheikh 3-29, Rahul Dongarwar 2-14, Avinash Jadhav 2-26, Sooraj Rai 2-49). Navniketan CC 2nd innings (f/o) 174 all out in 49.5 overs (Aditya Ahuja 47, Mohd Faiz 44, Varun Palandurkar 60; Avinash Jadhav 5-44, Rahul Dongarwar 2-50). Result: MSSC won by an innings and 58 runs.
