In a major move to ease traffic congestion, proposed Pentinaka flyover on Jabalpur-Mandla route will now be constructed from Empire crossing to near Gorabazar. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has granted administrative approval for the extended length of the project. The revised plan follows a fresh survey conducted on the directions of State PWD Minister Rakesh Singh. Earlier, the flyover was planned from Pentinaka Chowk to YMCR, but construction was delayed due to issues related to the Defence Department.

After addressing these hurdles through a new survey, the project has now received clearance in its modified form. Under the updated proposal, the flyover will have a total length of 1,415 metres, with an additional 283 metres of approach road. Service roads, 7.5 metres wide, will be developed on both sides. The project cost has also been revised to approximately Rs 70 crore. The flyover will be built under the Setu Bandhan Scheme (CIRF). Minister Singh said the extension was necessary to manage increasing traffic pressure on the route.

He said that the proposal to extend the flyover was sent to the Centre to ensure smoother entry for vehicles coming from Mandla, which has now been approved. He added that Jabalpur already has the state’s largest flyover, while five more have been sanctioned. The 112-km ring road project is also in its final phase. These developments are expected to significantly improve traffic flow and contribute to the city’s growth. Singh expressed gratitude to Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and CM Mohan Yadav for approving the proposal.
