A five-year-old girl lost her life after falling from a terrace in Neelgaon village near Saoner town. The incident has left the entire village in deep shock and grief. According to police, the girl, Dakshita (5), was the daughter of Prashant Thakre. On Friday afternoon around 4 pm, ‘papads’ were being prepared on the terrace of their neighbour’s house, where some family members had gathered. Dakshita had gone there out of curiosity and was watching the activity. At around 4.30 pm, she decided to return home and started moving towards the staircase. However, the terrace did not have a protective parapet wall.

 

While trying to locate the stairs, Dakshita reportedly misjudged the edge of the roof and accidentally fell down. She landed head-first on a concrete surface and suffered serious head injuries. Family members and neighbours rushed her to a hospital in Nagpur, where she was admitted for treatment. Doctors said she remained unconscious after the fall. Despite efforts by medical staff, Dakshita succumbed to her injuries on Saturday night, nearly a day after the incident. The last rites were performed on Sunday afternoon at Neelgaon in a sorrowful atmosphere.
