Directors, producers and actors of Chhollywood paid heartfelt tributes to legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92. Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, eminent Chhattisgarhi film director Satish Jain said that Asha Bhosle was one of the most versatile singers of Indian cinema. “Asha Bhosle sang all kinds of songs, including classical, romantic and folk-based compositions. She recorded songs in several Indian and foreign languages. Her contribution to Indian music will always be remembered,” he said. Renowned Chhattisgarhi film director and Secretary of Chhattisgarh Cine & Television Producers Association Manoj Verma expressed deep sorrow over her demise. “I am deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Asha Bhosle ji. Her voice was not just music, but an emotion that touched countless hearts across generations. With her passing, the world has lost a true legend whose melodies will continue to live on forever. My heartfelt condolences to her family, loved ones and admirers during this difficult time,” he said.
 
Chhattisgarhi film producer and actor Raj Sahu also paid tributes and said that Asha Bhosle had taken Indian music to new heights through her extraordinary versatility and long musical career. Asha Bhosle was one of India’s most celebrated playback singers, known for her remarkable versatility across genres including film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, classical compositions, folk songs, qawwalis and Rabindra Sangeet. In a career spanning more than eight decades, she recorded thousands of songs in over 20 Indian and foreign languages and earned numerous honours, including two National Film Awards, nine Filmfare Awards (including a Lifetime Achievement Award), and the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000. She was also conferred the Padma Vibhushan in 2008. The Guinness World Records recognised her in 2011 as the most recorded artist in music history. Born into the renowned Mangeshkar family, she was the younger sister of legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar. Apart from singing, she also appeared as an actress in the film Mai (2013), earning critical appreciation for her performance. In 2006, she stated that she had recorded over 12,000 songs in her career, a figure repeated by several other sources.
