A major fire broke out at a timber saw mill in the Ganga Sagar area of Garha late at night, destroying wood worth lakhs of rupees and triggering panic among residents. The incident occurred around 3 am at Shri Satya Sai Timber and Plywood, where flames quickly spread through stacked wood. According to the information, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in CNC machine. Within minutes, the blaze intensified and engulfed large quantities of timber, with flames visible from a far area. Local residents rushed out of their homes and attempted to control the fire, but the dry wood fuelled the blaze, making it difficult to contain.

On receiving information, fire brigade teams rushed to the spot. Around five fire tenders were pressed into action and after nearly three hours of continuous effort, the fire was brought under control. Timely action by the fire department prevented the flames from spreading to nearby areas, averting a bigger disaster. In the incident, timber and other materials worth an estimated Rs 10 lakh were reduced to ashes. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Locals said some workers were present at the saw mill and managed to escape safely after noticing the fire. The incident created panic in the area, with residents expressing concern over fire safety measures at such establishments. Authorities have ordered an inquiry into the cause of the fire and stressed the need for regular checks of electrical systems and safety equipment to prevent similar incidents in the future.
