Staff Reporter :
The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has intensified its preparations for the ensuing Swachh Survekshan 2025-26, with a strong focus on efficient waste management. Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar reviewed the readiness during an inspection of the city’s Waste-to-Energy and Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste plants.
During the inspection, he examined functioning of both facilities and found arrangements to be in order. He also inspected approach roads leading to the plants and directed officials to ensure smooth transportation of waste without any disruption. He said the civic body is fully geared up to meet cleanliness benchmarks.
At the Waste-to-Energy plant, the Municipal Commissioner reviewed the process of converting solid waste into electricity and evaluated its operational capacity.
He said strengthening of internal roads has been completed to facilitate uninterrupted movement of waste carrying vehicles.
Ahirwar said the C&D waste plant is a successful example of the ‘waste-to-wealth’ model. Here, construction debris is being
recycled to produce paver blocks, contributing to continuous waste disposal.
One of the key achievements of C&D plant is production of cost effective paver blocks. These are not only being used in city infrastructure works but are also available to the general public at affordable rates. This initiative is helping in effective disposal of debris while providing economical construction material to residents. Senior officials, including Additional Commissioner Devendra Singh Chauhan and Sambhav Ayachi, along with Health Officer Ankita Barman and officials of other departments were present during the inspection.
