After reports of jaundice spurt in Ward-67, Sector 7 West, Street 37A, Bhilai Nagar, the health team visited the affected area on Sunday. According to information received from CMHO Dr Dani, the Health Department team visited 65 households in the affected area today and identified 7 new patients suffering from jaundice.
Consequently, a total of 31 jaundice patients have been identified in the said infected zone to date. Among these, 1 previously identified patient has been discharged. Currently, 3 patients are undergoing treatment at the Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhilai, and 1 patient is being treated at Pulse Hospital, Bhilai-1. The situation is currently under control. Jaundice is an infectious disease spread through contaminated water and food, caused by a viral infection. Symptoms of the disease typically manifest within 15 to 50 days after the virus enters the body.
The primary symptoms of jaundice include loss of appetite, yellow-coloured urine, loss of taste in food, nausea or vomiting, headaches, a sense of weakness and fatigue, pain in the upper right side of the abdomen, and yellowing of the eyes and skin.

Banjare, District Surveillance Officer, Durg. The team included Dr Piyam Singh (Officer-in-Charge, Civil Hospital Supela, Bhilai), Ritika Sonwani (District Epidemiologist, Durg), Vijay Sejule (Supervisor), Hitendra Kosre (BETO), along with local health workers and Mitanins.Blood samples were collected from patients exhibiting symptoms of jaundice in Sector-7, Street-37A, Bhilai.
