Various political, social and voluntary organisations across the city observed Ambedkar Jayanti with great enthusiasm on Tuesdasy. Leaders and citizens paid floral tributes at statues of B R Ambedkar, while several programmes, rallies and awareness events were organised in different parts of the city. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): The Bharatiya Janata Party Mahanagar unit paid homage to Dr Ambedkar by garlanding his statue at Ambedkar Chowk. Party leaders highlighted his role as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a symbol of social harmony. They said Dr Ambedkar dedicated his life to the upliftment of society and worked for justice for Dalits and backward sections. Addressing a programme, District President Ratnesh Sonkar said Dr Ambedkar believed in transformative change through parliamentary democracy and rule of law.

 

He added that the Constitution was envisioned as a tool for social and economic reform, ensuring accountability, protection of fundamental rights and equality. Congress Party: The Congress Party also celebrated the occasion with a series of programmes across the city. The celebrations began with floral tributes at Ambedkar Chowk, where party leaders, workers and citizens gathered to pay homage and pledge to follow his ideals. From morning till afternoon, events were held across all 79 wards of the city, where tributes were paid to Dr Ambedkar’s statues and portraits. Speakers at various gatherings highlighted his struggle, commitment to education, and contribution to building an inclusive and just society. In the evening, a large vehicle rally was taken out from Russel Chowk to Ambedkar Chowk, passing through major areas of the city, creating an atmosphere of zeal and public participation. Bahujan Samaj Party and other organisations also observed Dr Ambedkar Jayanti.
