PROVING that age is just a number, Dr Sunita Dhote, a 53-year-old professor from Ramdeobaba University, has carved a niche for herself in the fitness world with an outstanding performance at the prestigious HYROX Bengaluru event. She completed the gruelling competition in an impressive time of 2 hours and 16 minutes, securing 13th position in her category and inspiring many with her determination and resilience. HYROX is known for its intense and demanding format, combining an 8-kilometre run with eight challenging strength stations.

The race includes activities such as a 1000m SkiErg, 50m sled push (102 kg) and sled pull (78 kg), 80m burpee broad jumps, 1000m rowing, 200m farmers carry (2×16 kg kettlebells), sandbag lunges (10 kg) and 100 wall balls (4 kg) with squats below 90° knee angle. Dr Dhote is also the first female Ironman 70.3 athlete from her community and an accomplished ultra swimmer, having completed a 10-km swim. Dr Dhote credited her success to her coach Dr Anil Trivedi, PT Pritesh and Cult Gym, along with the encouragement from her university colleagues and training companions. She also expressed gratitude to her mentor Dr Rajendra Jaiswal and her family for their unwavering support.
