Both were returning to their college hostel after partying at a ‘dhaba’
Two third-year students of Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), and sons of a joint civil judge and a senior lawyer, died in a road accident on Thursday morning. The incident took place when they were returning to their college hostel after partying at a dhaba.
According to the police, the shocking incident took place due to reckless driving. The cops got the information about the mishap on Thursday morning. A team from Butibori Police Station rushed to the spot and found the bodies of both students and their motorcycle (MH-49-CR-1457) lying near an open space close to the road heading towards Mauja Waranga Toli.
As per the cops, the bike went out of control and fell into a ditch, killing both instantaneously.
The deceased were Aryan Ravindra Sontakke (21), a resident of Dutt Chowk, Yavatmal, and Saksham Vinod Bansod (21), a resident of Besa. Aryan is the son of Ravindra Sontakke, a senior lawyer in Yavatmal, while Saksham’s father, Vinod Bansod, is a joint civil judge in Wardha. Saksham lived in a rented flat in Besa, while Aryan lived in the same hostel at the university. Around 3.30 pm on Wednesday, both friends left the hostel for the party on their motorcycle.
After partying, both students were returning to the hostel on Wednesday late night, and Aryan was driving the motorcycle recklessly. According to cops, the bike went out of control at a turning towards Mauja Varanga Toli, 400 metres from the university. The bike fell into a ditch close to the tar road.
The police found that both had serious injuries on head, and other body parts and died on the spot. On Thursday morning, both were found by some passers-by who informed the police. A panchnama was conducted and the bodies were sent for the post-mortem. When the two did not return late Wednesday night, their hostel friends became worried and started searching for both of them by contacting their families. As Saksham was absent on Wednesday from the hostel, the hostel in-charge informed his family. Saksham’s family searched for him the whole night but without any trace.
Next morning, when police arrived the hostel and questioned their friends, they revealed that both students were missing from Wednesday night as they went
