GENERAL Administration Department (GAD), Government of Chhattisgarh has issued orders for an official inquiry into the accident at Vedanta Power Limited, located in Singhitarai village under Dabhra tehsil in Sakti district. According to official information, the incident occurred on April 14, 2026, at Boiler Unit1 of the plant. The accident reportedly occurred due to a technical fault at the joint between the water supply pipe and the steam pipe. Several workers lost their lives in the incident, while many others sustained serious injuries.

 

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the State Government has appointed the Commissioner of Bilaspur Division, as the inquiry officer to conduct a detailed investigation into the accident. The terms of reference for the inquiry include determining when and how the incident occurred, examining the causes and circumstances leading to the accident, and recommending measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future. As per the issued order, the inquiry officer has been directed to complete the investigation and submit a report to the state government within 30 days. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has instructed officials to ensure a fair and swift investigation into the accident and to take strict action against those found responsible.
