A 10-year-old schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide at her home in Khadan Number 6 area, under the jurisdiction of Kanhan Police Station, on Tuesday, leaving the entire locality in deep grief. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Preeti alias Betu, Satyanarayan Tiwari (10). She was a student of Class 5 at Narayana School. On Tuesday, as it was school holiday on account of Mahavir Jayanti, she stayed at home. Family members said that Preeti’s uncle, Sanjay Tiwari, also was at home that day. Around 2.30 pm, Preeti asked a family member, Aarti, for a bottle of cold drink. Aarti told her that she would bring it later in the evening. After that, Preeti went to play, while Aarti got busy with household work.

 

After some time, Preeti was found hanging from a wooden pillar inside her room. The family immediately rushed her to a nearby private hospital. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival. On receiving information, Police Inspector Vaijayanti Mandavdhare and her team reached the spot and carried out panchnama. The body was later sent to the Sub-District Hospital in Kamptee for post-mortem examination. Kanhan Police have registered a case of accidental death based. Further probe is on. The sudden death of the young girl has left her family and neighbours in shock. The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be known.
