Aiming for a massive expansion in educational reach, the Government has set an ambitious target to enroll 1.45 crore students in the current academic session. To support this growth, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav announced that Book Fairs will be organised at the development block level across the State. In a significant move towards inclusivity, these fairs will provide affordable books from the State Textbook Corporation not only to Government school students but also to children enrolled in private schools, ensuring that cost is no barrier to quality learning materials.
The initiative was unveiled during the state-level ‘Praveshotsav-2026’ at the Model Higher Secondary School in Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr Yadav emphasised that the ‘School Chale Hum’ campaign, running from April 1 to 4, is an innovative effort to ensure every child in the State’s 55 districts is connected to the education system.
He noted that the government has successfully achieved a near-zero dropout rate in government schools, a milestone that underscores the strengthening bond between the state’s academic institutions and the public.
This renewed trust in public education is reflected in the data,
with enrollment in government schools witnessing a significant 32.4 per cent growth. Dr Yadav highlighted that the State is aligning with the National Education Policy 2020 by providing textbooks in Hindi and local dialects, particularly for tribal regions. To further empower students, the Government has modernised the learning environment through the establishment of 369 Sandipani Schools and the integration of advanced facilities like Atal Tinkering Labs and Robotic Labs.
Beyond infrastructure, the State has backed its educational vision with substantial financial commitments. The 2026-27 budget includes 210 crore for bicycle distribution, with four lakh students expected to receive cycles in the coming months.
Additionally, 250 crore has been allocated for laptops for meritorious students who scored above 75 percent, while school toppers are being rewarded with scooties.
