State doubles health scheme reach Over 7.4 lakh citizens avail benefit in 2025-26

In PMJAY, Govt gives Rs 1,515 cr; in MJPJAY, Rs 4,061 crore distributed  
 
Government of Maharashtra disbursed health scheme benefits to 2,18,489 under Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY) and to 5,22,598 under Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) in the year 2025-26. These beneficiaries are double in number than those who availed benefits under these schemes last year -- 2024-25. In last two years, under PMJAY, 3,29,892 people and under MJPJAY, 9,23,647 people have availed benefits. Last year, there were 1,11,403 beneficiaries of the PMJAY while 4,01,049 availed benefits under MJPJAY. Government spent Rs 513,84,63,697 crore under PMJAY while Rs 1849, 54,27,223 crore were disbursed under MJPJAY.
 
This year Rs 1515,94,11,303 crore were spent under PMJAY and Rs 4061,12,54,470 crore under MJPJAY. MJPJAY (erstwhile Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana) started from July 2, 2012 in eight districts on pilot basis and then it was expanded in all districts of Maharashtra from November 21, 2013. Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) was launched by the Government of India on September 2018.
 
The Government made amendments in the integrated scheme as per the Government Resolution dated February 26, 2019 being implemented. Accordingly, an insurance cover of Rs1.50 lakh per family per year was provided for 996 treatments under Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. Also, health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family per year was applicable for 1,209 treatments through Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The said scheme was implemented from April 1, 2020 to June 30, 2024. Meanwhile, Government of Maharashtra has taken decision vide GR dated July 28, 2023 to implement MJPJAY for all families in the state and expanded the scope of current scheme. Accordingly, integrated scheme is being implemented from July 1, 2024 with expanded scope.
 
The scheme is being implemented in Assurance Mode with a 60:40 funding pattern (Central Share: State Share). The benefit cover under the converged scheme provides 5 lakh per family per year. The beneficiary identification and eligibility determination were undertaken using National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC) databases. The State is operational on HBP 2022 (Health Benefit Package (HBP) 2022 includes coverage for high-cost treatments such as cancer care (medical, radiation, and surgical oncology), as well as renal and bone marrow transplants., with integration of State-specific and Govt. reserved packages).
