NEW pace sensation of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Vidarbha seamer Praful Hinge, left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey, who also represents SRH in IPL, along with Vidarbha professionals Dhruv Shorey and R Samarth are a few names who will go under the hammer during the auction of Vidarbha Premier League-Season 2. The auction will take place at Hotel Le Meridian on May 3 which will be telecast live on Sony Sports Network. As reported by ‘The Hitavada’ on April 19, the VPL Governing Council allowed franchises to retain maximum six players for the coming season which kicks-off on June 1, 2026.
 
The retention was done in three categories — A, B and C. In all, 32 players, who featured in Season 1 of the men’s competition, were retained by the franchises. From Rs 42 lakh purse, only two teams — defending champions Neco Master Blaster (NMB) and runners-up Pagariya Strikers — retained six players while the remaining four retained five. (see box). They are now left with a purse of Rs 25 lakh each while the other four with Rs 26.5 lakh each. Jitesh Sharma, who led Neco Master Blaster to title, has taken NOC from Baroda for VPL. Similarly, Aditya Sarvate, who plays for Chhattisgarh, sought NOC from the State association and will also go under the hammer on May 3.
