Patients in Nagpur and Central India will no longer have to run around for diagnosis and treatment of serious ailments. The city will soon have one-of-its-kind state-of-the-art comprehensive Multi-Speciality and Super-Speciality hospital with all diagnostic and treatment facilities under one roof. Dr Aabaji Thatte Sewa Aur Anusandhan Sanstha, which has established the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Nagpur, has taken up another mega public health care project -- the National Health Care Institute (NHCI), a 450-bed Multi-Speciality and Super-Speciality hospital, to be constructed on North Ambazari Road near Alankar Cinema in the city.
The bhoomipujan of NHCI will be performed on April 24 at 3.30 pm at the hands of Sarsaghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat, in the august presence of Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis; Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Revenue Minister, Maharashtra and Guardian Minister of Nagpur Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
The hospital of 5,00,000 square feet area will be the first being run by a registered charitable trust to have a corporate like structure that will offer treatment to all at affordable cost. The hospital has been envisioned by the trustees considering the needs of Nagpur city, its surrounding areas and the neighbouring states of Central India.
“NHCI will be at par with international facilities and will have ultra-modern diagnostic and treatment equipment, highly skilled super specialists and support staff,” informed Shailesh Joglekar, General Secretary of Dr Aabaji Thatte Sewa Aur Anusandhan Sanstha. Joglekar added that considering various ailments that people suffer from, NHCI will have a multi-disciplinary approach and multi-modal therapy with significant dependence on extremely advanced diagnostics. “Special emphasis will be on creating a
dedicated Organ Transplant facility,” he added.
Singapore-based HKS Asia Pacific Design Consulting PTE Ltd are the Concept Design Architect & Medical Planners, and M/s J J Consultants, Mumbai, are the Principal Architects of NHCI. Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd are the Project Management Consultant.
