CMRF funds to get approval in 8 hrs medical treatment to begin early

Staff Reporter :

The process of disbursing funds through Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) has been made easy. It will take only 8 hours to get approvals leading momentum to medical treatment. The system was inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The CMRF Cell was established in Nagpur with the specific objective of providing financial aid for medical treatment to needy and economically weaker sections of society across the state.

Patients don’t have to do procedure

Until now, relatives of patients were responsible for gathering the necessary documents and submitting the applications to avail themselves of this scheme. However, the CMRF and Charitable Hospitals Assistance Cell have now decided to implement an online application system. Consequently, the entire application approval process will now be completed within eight hours. Significantly, applications will be submitted directly through the hospitals affiliated with the Cell, rather than by the patients.

Rs 333 crore disbursed under CMRF

During the financial year spanning from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, medical assistance amounting to a staggering Rs 333,06,81,500 was provided to 40,776 patients across the State. Similarly, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the CMRF Cell, the BPCL Foundation, and the Tata Memorial Centre for the treatment of childhood cancer. Consequently, special funds will be made available under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

747 health camps held in Nagpur

Rameshwar Naik, the State head of CMRF, is known for his articulate style of working in health sector. During 2014-19 in Fadnavis Government, Naik played a major role in organising health camps and providing assistance to poor and needy. Now in this regime also, Naik has been instrumental in bringing several initiatives. Now the health camps are being conducted throughout the State. In Nagpur district, a total of 747 health camps—including the ‘Namo Netra Sanjeevani’ camp, ‘Arogyacha Shri Ganesha’, and various other health initiatives—were organised last year. These camps provided benefits to 53,422 patients. For patients who are unable to provide the necessary documents in a timely manner, the existing offline assistance mechanism will continue to operate as before at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat (Hyderabad House, Civil Lines, Nagpur). Dr Sagar Pande—Head of the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund and Charitable Hospital Assistance Cell (Nagpur), as well as its Member Secretary—stated that this new system will be effectively implemented across the entire State.
