Fresh twist in SK Bar violence: Staff accused of starting fight, deleting crucial CCTV footage
Staff Reporter :
New details have emerged in the violent incident at SK Bar near Manewada Chowk which revealed that the bar manager and staff have first attacked the youths which led to the retaliation later.
According to police investigation, the group of youths had come to the bar after attending a function. They consumed liquor at the bar, during which one of them vomitted inside the premises. The bar manager allegedly asked him to clean
it. The youth offered to pay
Rs 100 instead, but the manager refused. This led to a heated argument.
Police said that the bar manager and staff allegedly assaulted one youth, identified as Yash Digeshwar Dahikar (22), causing him a fracture.
After this, Yash returned to the area where the function was taking place and came back with his relatives and friends.
Later, the group of eight to ten youths allegedly created a ruckus at the bar, vandalised property, and attacked the bar manager Tushar Dilip Wankhede (38) and others. The earlier report had stated that the group tried to kill Wankhede by hitting him with a broken bottle.
Following the new findings, police have registered a cross-complaint against the bar manager and staff members as well. Three accused - Rishabh Sheshrao Sonvane (23), Sumit Rajesh Waghmare (22), and Yash Dahikar - have already been arrested, while search is on for the remaining accused. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more facts are being verified.
CCTV footage deleted by bar staffers
Police sources revealed that an important part of the CCTV footage from the bar was allegedly deleted. According to investigators, the bar owner reportedly deleted video footage recorded before 11.50 pm - the time when Yash and his friends were allegedly first attacked by the bar staff. This missing footage could have shown how the incident actually started.
Police also said that the bar owner later shared another video of the altercation on social media, which reportedly showed only the later part of the violence. Investigators suspect that the selective sharing of video may have been done to present a one-sided version of the incident. The role of the bar owner in deleting and sharing the footage is now under scrutiny as part of the ongoing investigation.
