Upcoming seven projects in Vidarbha will generate 43,185 direct and indirect jobs
Naxal-hit Gadchiroli district will get highest investment of Rs 43,135 crore which will generate 28,000 direct and indirect jobs
In a major push to transform Vidarbha into a national economic hub and boost job-creation, the Maharashtra Government has approved special incentives to seven ‘Large’ and ‘Mega’ projects, collectively worth Rs 78,571.01 crore. These projects will also help to generate 43,185 direct and indirect jobs in Vidarbha.
The incentives were approved by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the 14th meeting of the Cabinet Sub-committee on Industries, Energy, Labour, and Mining.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde; Minister for Industries and Marathi Language, Dr Uday Samant; Chief Secretary Rajesh Agarwal; Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Abha Shukla; Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O P Gupta; Principal Secretary (Industries) Dr P Anbalagan; CEO of MIDC, P Velarasu; and Development Commissioner Dipendra Singh Kushwah also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Fadnavis approved 18 proposals including seven proposals of Vidarbha region
for granting special incentives to Large and Mega
projects falling under ‘Thrust Sectors’ or based on high technology.
These projects encompass areas such as solar cells, modules, ingots, and wafers; green steel; green ammonia; electronic products; aerospace and defence equipment; lithium-ion batteries; electric vehicle manufacturing and components; and steel and ‘Gas-to-Chemicals’ production. Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district will get the highest investment of Rs 43,135 crore with projection of creating 28,000 direct and indirect jobs. Rashmi Metallurgical Industry Private Limited will invest hopping Rs 40,000 crore, creating 20,000 jobs in Gadchiroli. Whereas, Hariom Pipe Industries Limited will provide employment to 8,000 individuals by investing Rs 3,135 crore in Gadchiroli.
Nagpur district will get an economic boom with Rs 24,180 crore investment and openings for 13,825 individuals. Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited will provide employment to 6,825 individuals through an investment of Rs 12,780 crore. Similarly, at Butibori, Acme Cleantech Solutions Private Limited will invest Rs 11,400 crore and create 7,000 direct and indirect jobs.
In Bhandara district, Ashok Leyland Limited will make a major investment of Rs 10,000 crore and job creation for 1,000 individuals.
Similarly, in Chandrapur, Million Steel Private Limited will generate 360 jobs through an investment of Rs 256.01 crore.
Tembo Defence Products Private Limited will be investing Rs 1,000 crore in Amravati district.
These projects will provide a significant boost to industrial development across Vidarbha and other parts of the State, thereby strengthening the local economy.
Furthermore, they will facilitate the emergence of technological innovation, research and development, and robust supply chains.
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) also are set to benefit from these initiatives. Additionally, these projects will open up opportunities for training and skill development for local workers, thereby enhancing their employability.
