NAGPUR thrashed Thane with a second half brilliance to storm into quarter-final of the ongoing Maharashtra State WIFA Inter-District Football Championship (U-20) under way at Sinhagad Sports Complex, in Lonavala.
In the pre-quarterfinal encounter, Nagpur crushed Thane by four goals to nil to set up a quarters date with Palghar on Sunday.
Nagpur continued from where they left displaying their dominant performance.
In their opener, they blanked Akola by an identical margin on Friday.
Thane did pose some challenge in the first half and they managed to hold the fort. However in the second half, Nagpur changed the gears and pumped in four goals to emerge winners.
Mohd Rizwan broke the deadlock in the 50 minute with a solo effort. Abdullah Sidhqui then doubled the lead scoring in the 59th minute of play.
Two minutes later, Sharv Karki bulged the net to take the game away from Thane. Abhimanyu Bhojne then sealed the deal scoring in the 63rd minute.
