A 23-year-old receptionist at a hotel in the Kolar area was allegedly abducted, physically assaulted and raped by a former employee (a woman), her son, and his friend late Friday night. The Kolar police acted swiftly upon receiving distress signals and successfully rescued the victim from the Bajaria area. While the prime accused woman, Vinita Rajput, has been taken into custody, her son Bittu and his associate managed to evade arrest and are currently fugitives. A case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including kidnapping and rape, has been registered. Kolar Station House Officer Sanjay Soni reported that the police received information regarding a violent dispute at a hotel on 80 Feet Road around 9 pm on Friday.

 

Upon arrival, the police team found the premises deserted and discovered that the hotel’s Digital Video Recorder (DVR) had been removed to destroy evidence. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had been involved in an altercation with Vinita Rajput and two men before going missing. CCTV footage from neighbouring establishments and staff testimonies confirmed that the victim was forcibly taken after a physical assault. Law enforcement agencies utilised mobile location tracking to narrow down the suspects’ movements. Although Vinita Rajput initially ignored police calls and attempted to provide misleading information, the police managed to establish brief contact with the victim. Her distressed response confirmed the gravity of the situation, prompting an immediate raid in the Bajaria area. The victim was found in a traumatised state and was rescued along with the arrest of the accused woman. Police have launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend the remaining two suspects.

 

The investigation into the motive behind the heinous crime revealed a plot driven by personal vendetta. According to the victim’s statement, Vinita Rajput previously worked at the same hotel and allegedly harboured intentions to marry the hotel owner. Following her termination or resignation, Vinita suspected the new receptionist of having an affair with the owner. This suspicion allegedly led her to plot the abduction and assault with the assistance of her son and his accomplice. On the night of the incident, Vinita’s son and his friend allegedly lured the victim into a hotel room where she was held captive and subjected to sexual assault and physical violence. Vinita subsequently arrived at the scene to further assault the victim. The accused then forced the victim onto a scooter and took her toward Bajaria under the threat of death. The police are currently conducting further investigations to gather more forensic evidence and ensure a strong legal case against all individuals involved in the conspiracy.
