In a crucial pre-monsoon review meeting held recently, Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani-Wakhre directed all civic and development agencies to ensure that the city’s low-lying areas do not face water-logging this year. The meeting, held at the Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Memorial Hall, included officials from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), MahaMetro, MIHAN, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), and the Airport Authority.

 

Dani-Wakhre instructed executive engineers of every zone to identify specific spots prone to water accumulation and submit a detailed report to Manoj Talewar, Chief Engineer. She emphasised that all ongoing construction works by various agencies must be completed immediately to prevent drainage blockages. The Chairperson reiterated that it is the responsibility of the executing agencies to maintain a functional drainage system during their developmental projects to safeguard citizens from monsoon-related risks.
