A sensational case of continuous sexual exploitation and blackmail spanning six years has surfaced within the Bajaria police station limits. The accused, identified as Rohit, allegedly recorded an objectionable video of the victim when she was still a minor and used it as leverage to harass her for years. The matter came to light when the victim, paralyzed by fear of social stigma, finally gathered courage to inform the police about her ordeal through a letter sent via speed post. Following the revelation, authorities contacted the victim and registered a case under stringent sections, including rape and the POCSO Act. Police investigations have revealed that the exploitation began in 2020 when the victim was only 16 years old. Rohit, who resided near the victim’s house, reportedly manipulated her and recorded an explicit video.

 

Threatening her of circulating this video on social media, the accused began sexually assaulting her at various locations whenever he found her alone. Fearful of public humiliation, the victim remained silent for years, enduring systematic abuse while the accused continued to use the digital evidence as a weapon of coercion. As the victim attained adulthood, the nature of the harassment shifted to more frequent episodes at various hotels across the city. The situation escalated when the victim’s family finalised her engagement elsewhere. Upon learning of this, Rohit threatened to leak the video to her prospective in-laws, effectively breaking the engagement. Insisting on marriage, the accused reportedly lured her to a meeting and forced her into a non-consensual marriage ceremony, claiming he would never allow her to be with anyone else.

 

Following the forced marriage, Rohit allegedly kept the victim in isolation and confiscated her mobile phone to prevent any external communication. During this period of confinement, the victim discovered that the accused’s family was unaware of the situation and opposed the relationship. Following a heated argument regarding her rights, Rohit abandoned the victim and fled. Encouraged by the police’s proactive reach after receiving her speed post, the victim recorded a detailed statement, leading to the registration of a formal FIR.
