IN a landmark achievement for the healthcare sector in Central India, Sanjeevani Cancer Care Hospital has successfully performed first Tele-Robotic Cancer Surgery in Chhattisgarh. This milestone not only reflects technological advancement but
also demonstrates how advanced medical care can now transcend geographical boundaries to reach patients.
The procedure carried out was a Robotic Radical Prostatectomy, a highly complex surgery typically available only in super-specialty hospitals in major metropolitan cities. What makes this achievement remarkable is that the surgery was performed using Tele-surgery technology connecting Gurugram to Raipur in real time.
The surgery was led by renowned Urologist Dr Amitabh Singh, Unit Head at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, who performed the operation remotely from Gurugram. He worked in close coordination with Dr Arpan Chaturmohta, HOD and Surgical Director at Sanjeevani Cancer Care Hospital along with Urologist Dr Ghanshyam Hatwar and the expert surgical team at Sanjeevani. Dr Amitabh Singh shared that he was proud to have contributed in a robotic radical prostatectomy through tele-surgery from Gurugram to Raipur. This demonstrates how modern robotic technology and reliable connectivity can eliminate geographical barriers and ensure that every patient receives world-class treatment.
Highlighting the broader impact of this achievement, Dr Arpan Chaturmohta and Dr Ghanshyam Hatwar jointly said, “This milestone marks a turning point for healthcare in Chhattisgarh. Patients will no longer need to travel to major cities for complex surgeries. Through tele-robotic technology, we are bringing expert care directly to patients, reducing time, cost and emotional stress”.
Sharing his views, Founder, Director and Senior Cancer Surgeon Dr Yusuff Meman said, “ Sanjeevani’s goal has always been to provide world-class cancer treatment in Central India. This successful tele-robotic surgery reflects our commitment to innovation, adoption of advanced technology and patient-centric care”. He further said that this achievement is not only a proud moment for Sanjeevani Cancer Care Hospital but also for the entire state of Chhattisgarh. It sets a new direction for the region’s healthcare ecosystem, where technology and expertise come together to improve accessibility, outcomes and patient experience.
