Three members of a Nagpur-based family lost their lives after their car crashed into a roadside tree near Khadka turning on the Warud–Morshi Highway. One person sustained critical injuries and is undergoing treatment. The victims have been identified as Samadhan Kisanrao Nande (62), Kiran Gopal Nande (28), and three-year-old Diya Gopal Nande, all residents of Kamptee Khairi in Nagpur district. The family was on its way to attend a wedding when the accident occurred around 8 am.

According to police, Gopal Samadhan Nande (34) was driving the car (MH-04/KR- 0721) with his father, wife and daughter onboard. “Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver lost control of the vehicle near Khadka turning, after which the car veered off the road and rammed into a tree,” a police official from Warud Police Station said. The impact of the collision was so severe that the vehicle’s front portion was completely mangled. Samadhan Nande died on the spot due to the force of the crash. Locals rushed to the site immediately after hearing the loud noise and began rescue efforts. “Kiran Nande and her daughter were critically injured and were being shifted to the Rural Hospital in Warud. Unfortunately, both succumbed to their injuries on the way,” the officer added. Gopal Nande, who suffered serious injuries, was first given primary treatment at the Warud hospital and later referred to a higher medical facility for advanced care. His condition is reported to be critical.

Villagers working in nearby fields, along with Khadka Sarpanch Rahul Phule, were among the first responders. They alerted the police and called for an ambulance from Benoda. “The prompt action of locals helped in quickly shifting the injured to the hospital,” another police official said, adding that such timely assistance is crucial in accident cases. Police have carried out a panchnama at the accident site and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. “Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident,” officials said.
