The city witnessed a deep wave of devotion on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav, as tens of thousands of devotees thronged temples across Sanskardhani from early morning. Starting from the Brahma Muhurta, long queues were seen outside main Hanuman temples, with continuous chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Jai Bajrangbali” echoing across the city.
Religious rituals including special worship, Hanuman Chalisa recitations, Sundarkand, Akhand Ramayan Path, havan and mahaaarti were orgnaised throughout the day. Almost all important places hosted bhandara and prasad distribution, turning the festival into a city wide celebration of faith.
At the famous Ramlala Temple in Gwarighat, one of the main centres of celebration, a large number of devotees gathered for darshan. The idol of Bal Hanuman was brought out from the sanctum for special worship. A havan with over one lakh coconuts offered through the year was also performed, believed to fulfil devotees’ wishes. Across the city, major Hanuman temples saw heavy footfall. These included Katra Wale Hanuman Mandir, Supatal Hanuman Mandir, Dixitpura Hanuman Temple, Ramlala Mandir, Badi Khermai Hanuman Temple, Paat Baba Mandir (GCF area), Kharighat Hanumangarhi, Ranital Hanuman Temple, Gate no. 2 Hanuman temple, Kachhiyana Hanuman Temple, Narharpuri Temple (near Medical), High Court premises Dakshinmukhi Hanuman Temple, GCF Ram Mandir Hanuman shrine, Panchmatha Hanuman Temple, Ramayan temple Supatal, Dashinmukhi Hanuman temple Vehicle crossing, Ranjhi, Noudra Bridge Hanuman Temple etc.
Special worship was also performed at Paat Baba Mandir, one of the prominent shrines, holds historical significance and is believed to have been established in 1903, linked with the construction of the Gun Carriage Factory.
At Katra Hanuman Mandir, a grand shobhayatra was taken out in the evening, passing through major city routes with tableaux of Lord Ram Darbar, Lord Ganesh and Radha-Krishna, along with devotional music groups.
Special rituals were also performed at Naudra Bridge Hanuman Temple, where abhishek and Akhand Ramayan Path began early morning and concluded with evening havan and maha aarti. From Kharighat Hanumangarhi to Ranital and Vinay Nagar, temples remained crowded throughout the day. Many places organised bhajan sandhya and spiritual discourses in the evening.
The temples decorated with saffron flags and lights, presented a lively picture of devotion. People of all age groups participated in the programmes with devotion. Hanuman Janmotsav was celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm at Shri Hanuman Temple premises of Government Maharani Laxmibai (MLB) School. Puja, abhishek and chola offering, followed by a musical Sundarkand recital performed on the occasion. The highlight was a grand mahaaarti with 101 lamps, illuminating the premises with spiritual fervour. Bhajan-kirtan and community feast were also organised, drawing large participation.
Scholars explained the significance of Sundarkand and Ramayan. Volunteers were honoured, and the event concluded with a message of faith, harmony and cultural unity.
