Nursing, sister tutor applications reopen for five days; results to be withheld pending final verdict
Staff Reporter :
In a significant legal development, the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) has officially reopened the application portal for the ‘Joint Recruitment Examination-2026’ for nursing officers and sister tutors. This decision follows an interim relief granted by the High Court in response to several petitions filed by candidates seeking to participate in the selection process. In compliance with the judicial stay and directions, the board has carved out a specific timeline for these petitioners to ensure their inclusion in the upcoming examination cycle.
According to the official information, all eligible petitioners can now submit their online application forms through the MP Online portal. This special window is strictly time-bound, opening on April 29, and remaining accessible only until May 3. The board has clarified that the candidature of all such applicants will be considered purely provisional. Furthermore, in adherence to the legal proceedings, the examination results for these specific candidates will be kept withheld until the High Court delivers its final judgement on the pending petitions.
2,317 vacancies and recruitment framework: The broader recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 2,317 positions under the Directorate of Public Health and Medical Education, representing a massive effort to strengthen the state’s medical workforce.
The vacancies are divided into two primary categories, with 2,099 seats dedicated to female nursing officers and 218 positions allocated for sister tutors. The nursing officers will be stationed at various government health institutions and autonomous medical colleges, while the sister tutors will be tasked with educational responsibilities at Government nursing
colleges across MP. To qualify for these roles, candidates must meet rigorous academic and professional standards. Applicants are required to have completed their 12th grade in the Science stream with a focus on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
For the nursing officer positions, a B.Sc. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree with a minimum of 45% marks is mandatory, along with a valid registration from the MP Nursing Council.
Candidates aspiring for the Sister Tutor roles must possess the same educational qualifications in addition to at least one year of professional experience.
The age limit for all applicants has been set between 18 and 40 years as of January 1, 2026, with standard age relaxations provided for candidates in reserved categories.
The selection process will be conducted through a comprehensive computer-based written exam totalling 100 marks, designed to test both general aptitude and specialised nursing knowledge.
The main phase of this recruitment exam is scheduled to commence on May 15. A notable condition of the appointment is the requirement for candidates to sign a service bond of Rs 5 lakh.
