PNG network to cover Butibori, Hingna MIDC areas by June 30 No LPG supply to industrial consumers thereafter
Business Reporter :
While the Government is giving top priority to time-bound completion of PNG network-laying in Butibori and Hingna MIDC areas, concerned authorities on Monday said that as soon as the industrial consumers in these areas start receiving piped natural gas (PNG), they will not be eligible for LPG supplied through cylinders.
In a meeting held in Udyog Bhawan in Civil Lines, Manohar Pote, Regional Officer, Nagpur Region, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), told the industrial category consumers that efforts are being made to complete PNG network laying in Butibori and Hingna MIDC areas by June 30, 2026. Pote has indirectly hinted that the consumers in these MIDC areas will not have access to LPG cylinders after June 30, 2026. Following the directives from the Maharashtra Government regarding the implementation of City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks, MIDC Industries Association (MIA) had convened the meeting with the MID officers. On the occasion, the MIDC Regional Officer said all required clearances will be given to Haryana City Gas Pvt. Ltd for developing the network.
“There are clear guidelines from the State Government that industrial consumers based in
areas where PNG network is available will not be eligible for availing LPG cylinders.
As far as Hingna and Butibori MIDC areas are concerned, the network will be completed before June 30, 2026 and the consumers will have access to uninterrupted fuel supply directly. And thus, there will be no need for LPG cylinders,” Pote explained.
The MIDC authorities told the MIA office-bearers that the corporation has also agreed to allocate a 20m x 20m plot for setting up a District Regulatory Facility (DRF) required by the HCG. It is important to note that the HCG has already initiated pipeline infrastructure development across key industrial areas, including Butibori and Hingna, where LPG demand is estimated at 50–75 metric tonnes.
In the meanwhile, HCG has requested all industries requiring PNG to enter into agreements at the earliest to facilitate faster processing.
As an immediate relief measure, HCG has also assured supply through cascade systems to meet urgent industrial requirements.
MIDC Industries Association (MIA) President P Mohan; Vice President Ganesh Jaiswal and Secretary Arun Lanjewar; Executive Engineer, MIDC, Vittal Rathod; and officials from Haryana City Gas Pvt. Ltd. (HCG) were also present.
During the meeting, MIA highlighted the acute challenges faced by industries dependent on LPG, particularly due to global supply disruptions affecting industrial operations. MIA strongly urged HCG to expedite the development and laying of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) pipeline infrastructure in the Hingna MIDC area.
