TO ENSURE equitable distribution of Category A players, the Vidarbha Premier League’s Governing Council has added three more players to Category A which has a base price of Rs 2,50,000. Rajneesh Gurbani, Shivam Deshmukh and Jagjot Sasan, who were initially listed under Category B, will now feature in Category A. Category A, which initially had 9 players, now has 12 players. Consequently, Category B (Base price Rs 1.5 lakh) which had 43 players, will now have 40 names. Category C (Base price Rs 1 lakh) remains unchanged with 74 players. No franchise shall acquire more than four (4) Category A players during the initial phase of the Category A auction. Acquisition of a fifth Category A player shall be permitted only after all franchises have either acquired four Category A players or have declined to do so, the VPL Governing Council stated.
