SAMIT Tong, Mitali Bhoyar,
Aniket Nalawade, Dhanashree
Kamthe, Manoj Chavan and
Pratik Kanhere will be expected
to perform at their fullest when
they participate at the ‘Indian
Series-06’, an athletics championship organised by the
Athletics Federation of India
along with the Tamil Nadu State
Association at the Jawaharlal
Nehru Stadium in Chennai, on
Sunday.
Samit, who will be competing
in the 3000-metre steeplechase,
had secured a silver medal at the
40th Junior National
Championship in the same
event. Earlier, he clinched the
yellow metal at both 3000m steeplechase and 3000m flat race at
the Maharashtra State
Championships.
Mitali, who will participate in
the 5000m, has clinched a bronze
medal at All India InterUniversity Championship in
1500m race and also secured
fourth place at the all India InterUniversity Cross-country.
In-form Aniket, who gave his
best performance to secure the
first place at the ‘Indian Series04’, will be participating in the
100m sprint.
Dhanashree Kamthe, who is
competing in the 100m sprint
event, had previously won a
medal at the ‘Ashwamedh’ competition.
Javelin thrower Manoj, whohad won a gold medal in the
Open National Javelin ThrowChampionships last year, will
look to capitalising on form.
Pratik will be competing in the800m race. Last year, he won asilver medal in the 800m event
at the ‘Ashwamedh’ competitionand secured seventh place at the
All India Inter-University
