THE Nagpur fencing contingent
delivered a stellar performance
at the State-level Cadet Fencing
Championship held in
Aurangabad, clinching two gold
and as many bronze medals
thus securing 3rd position in the
team championship.
Young fencers from Nagpur
lit up the arena with their
exceptional footwork, skill and
determination.
In the individual events,
Vaishnavi Bedwal struck gold in
the sabre individual category,
while Anupam Jagmohan
earned a well-deserved bronze
in the foil individual event.
Both talented athletes have
been selected to represent
Maharashtra at the upcoming
national championship.
The city’s success continued
in the team events as well.
Sabre girls team secured a
bronze medal which includes
members Vaishnavi Bedwal,
Sanvi Noeding, Dhruva Barai,
and Shravani Mojharker.
Foil girls team also claimed a
bronze medal, which comprised Aashna Chaudhary, Esha
Yavvari, Itishree Hatwar and
Vedika Ingole.
The players attributed their
success to the unwavering support of their parents and dedicated coaches — Ankit
Gajbhiye, Rahul Mandokar,
Sagar Bhagat and Avesh
Somkunwar.
Nagpur District Fencing
Association officials, including
President Ajay Sontakke,
Secretary Md Shoaib, Treasurer
Suresh Hajare and Nandkumar
Dhanvijay, congratulated all
the medal-winning fencers.
