An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Kotwali police station in Seoni was trapped while taking bribe of Rs 20,000 at a tea stall, Seoni Bus Stand, on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Dinesh Raghuvanshi (57), posted as ASI at Kotwali Police Station, Seoni.
Superintendent of Police Lokayukta Jabalpur, Anjulata Patle informed that complainant Nandkishore Chourasia (54), a resident of Chhitapar village in Kurai in Seoni district, had lodged an FIR at Kotwali police station after his son Abhishek Chourasia was cheated by fraudsters on the pretext of securing him a job and arranging vehicle contracts in a government department.
When Nandkishore Chourasia approached the investigating officer, Dinesh Raghuvanshi, to inquire about progress in the case, the officer demanded
Rs 30,000 as a bribe for preparing a favourable report and conducting an inquiry into forged signatures related to the case and after the negotiations, the accused agreed to accept Rs 20,000. Lokayukta team trapped the accused while he was accepting the bribe amount from the complainant at a tea shop near the Seoni bus stand. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 7, 13(1)(B), and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amendment 2018) and further investigation is in progress. The trap team was led by DSP, Neetu Tripathi comprised of Inspector Rahul Gajbhiye, Inspector Shashikala Maskule, SI, Shishir Pandey and members of the Lokayukta Jabalpur team.
